Girls ARE & Boys CAN is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Mississippi Gulfcoast. Our mission is to cultivate, inspire, and empower youth by developing their leadership skills, providing educational opportunities, and creating a safe space for them to grow and thrive in their communities. We are dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of young people and helping them reach their full potential.

“Gulf Innovators” STEM Program
GirlsARE BoysCAN is proud to announce the launch of Gulf Innovators: Designing for a Stronger Shoreline, made possible through a $5,000 grant from Ingalls Shipbuilding. Led by educator and community advocate Mrs. Taja Cunningham, this hands-on STEM initiative empowers students to investigate real coastal challenges through environmental science and engineering. Participants study erosion, collect soil and water data, and design small-scale coastal protection models using recycled and natural materials. By testing and refining solutions in simulated wave environments and sharing their work through digital portfolios and community showcases, students build confidence, creativity, and leadership while developing innovative solutions to strengthen and protect their communities.
